Supporting Republicans (probably because they’re porn bans drive VPN purchases), adding AI features and a crypto wallet while their drive still lacks basic features, and some other smaller stiff like their shitty article about Deepseak.
Its not antithetical to the Foss philosophy. Thus happens because Linus is a trusted figure, something he’s absolutely earned. He didn’t just buy control of some product, or get promoted to this position by a company. Many great open source projects have a BDFL. If people lose their trust in the projects BDFL, they fork the project.
Also, the kernel is really just one part of Linux. Distros include a whole bunch of software they choose to deliver a full OS (hence the Gnu+Linux people). Linus doesn’t have control over the OS as a whole, just the kernel.
Edit: Just finished reading the chain, what do you mean the dude did a 180? He expressed frustration that Linux only criticized him, further criticized the issues with the kernel development process, and said he was giving up being part of the kernel.
Yeah, it was being worked on for 5 years. Now it’s done.
IMO they’re both good options. Afaik, Tuta has an open source backend, unlike Proton. However, Proton has had great recent independent security audits, and court orders against them have shown how little information they keep.
Proton offers more features and services, which also makes it a bit more expensive. I’ve used and like both, but right now I have a Proton Unlimited subscription because I like their drive, vpn, and password manager.
Looking at the taskbar, they’re using Kitty which has tabs and splits, and they have a browser running.
When I use open source software, I’ll usually attempt to fix any small bugs I run into. I prefer to use an app made in a language I’m more familiar with to make this easier.

That’s just not true though
The joysticks don’t look like they’re in a comfortable spot for me sadly. They seem to be around where the touchpads on the Steam Deck are and personally that isn’t a comfortable spot to keep my thumbs for the majority of a play session. These devices should really just copy the Steam Deck layout, it’s already a copy of the Wii U.
They may not be what you want, but this article listed multiple distinguishing features. 1080p, 120hz, hall effect joysticks and triggers, adjustable triggers, and a camera.
I’d still choose a Steam Deck personally, but there are definitely enticing features here that I wish the Steam Deck offered.
Fortunately that will be quite soon
Definitely. You don’t need to have a task bar or start menu in KDE, it’s just the default. I usually have on panel on the left or right with my workspaces and system tray. I use the overview to manage windows instead of a taskbar, like gnome. I put krunner, the built in app runner on super
You can make KDE look entirely unlike Windows, its just up to preference.
The difference is this can be customized exactly as they want. It may be similar, but the little differences are stuff that you can’t change in Windows.
maybe I do suck at it. could you explain it to me?
Not a remotely relevant comparison, and even if it was, completely ignores my second point.
If they’re going to find it on lemmy they’re going to find it anywhere. Also, they already know about ublock origin, and its unlikely they’d even care about unhooked, since it doesn’t block ads.
I used to play this game a lot a few years ago before the player base got too small. It was a blast then and it seems to have only gotten better. I’ll definitely be giving it another try this week.
