I’m surprisingly level-headed for being a walking knot of anxiety.
Ask me anything.

I gouged out one crack and filled it with joint compound to see how that works.
Fellow “old house” owner here. I’ve got very similar cracks and similarly old drywall. Sanding it down and filling with joint compound was my plan. How did that work out?
Saving this post to see what kind of advice you get so I can try too.
there’s a flap that is supposed to only allow stuff ou
Did not know that was a thing. Learn something new every day.
In my case, depending on where that is and if my setup even has one, I doubt it’s the case. My house is also on a hill above the street/sewer connection and pretty much goes downhill from the time it exits the house. If sewer levels rise that high, the whole neighborhood is going to be in deep…well, you know. lol
Interesting.
My sinks, showers, dishwasher, etc all have a separate PVC sewer line and only the toilet still uses the original steel one. Both sewer lines, PVC and steel, exit the basement separately, but I don’t know if they stay separate all the way to the sewer connection at the street or combine outside. Thanks previous owner /s.
That said, I’ll have to check the vent configuration. I think there’s only one vent and want to say it’s shared between the two, but I have no idea. When I bought the house years ago, the inspector didn’t make any notes about that, so I assumed it was all good.
Thanks for that diagram, btw. Will see how mine compares and hope the plumber doesn’t just recommend ripping everything out and starting over xD
Haven’t had any snow accumulation this year (yet), so it shouldn’t be that blocking it. Not to say it couldn’t have a block by something else (it’s almost 70 years old). Haven’t noticed any glugging, but like you said, I may not notice it.
I’ll mention it to the plumber and see what they think.
Thanks!
Interesting. I don’t have any issues with things going out (or, worse, coming back up), so I didn’t think to involve them at all. Worth a shot. Thanks!
Thanks. Will give that a try. The sinks get used frequently, so I don’t think the traps would have a chance to dry out, but it’s simple enough to try.
Apple: (Finally supports a standard the rest of the world has been using for years) Look at us. So brave, so innovative. Also, we removed another port. Here’s a link to a $29 dongle in the Apple store.
Yeah. My iphone fanatic of a friend was complaining about something on hers the other day, and was like “Why doesn’t Apple just do {whatever}?”
My reply was basically that Apple didn’t become a trillion dollar company by giving customers what they want. They became a trillion dollar company by telling customers what they want and marketing the crap out of it.
Well, I’ll at least do you better than the .ml mods. Here’s your notice:
And for anyone feeling “censored” by any social media platform, I’ll leave you with the wise words of one Randall Munroe:
I don’t agree with their decision, and I hope some transparency is forthcoming about what led to them taking such an extreme position. OTOH, I’m also not going to tell them how to run their instance.
Your post in the politics community did merit removal as it violated the rules. I don’t think that community allows “meta” posts unless it’s from a mod (I could be wrong).
Their admins are usually pretty transparent, so, again, hopefully more information will be presented.
In the mean time, just look for off-instance crossposts ;)
Tesseract as a PWA. Photon as a PWA before that.
I’d rather see no responses than any “written” by an LLM. I say that having come across several interesting prompts without any responses.
So you’re neither singing nor hearing those sleigh bells ringing?
If the ad on a building serves to keep the charges from tenants lower then I don’t mind
Lol. That’s just bonus money for the building owner and tenants will probably get a rent hike just because.
Yep. I turned mine on yesterday just to test that everything’s working for the season before I really need it.
You’re a good team lead, then. A lazier person would have just shipped the unhelpful error and called it a day.
so I assume it’s due to conform to mobile UIs
Oh, yeah. I forgot about half-assed mobile support being one of the reasons for that. I do responsive design all day in my job, and it’s really not hard. At all. So yeah, like you said, the UX designers just can’t be arsed to do it.
Gonna trim my litany of complaints about modern trends down to my top 4 gripes:
Bonus: Any time an email, website, or other online source has “click here” for a link. It’s 2023. People know what a link is and what to do with it. All that “click here” says is you don’t know what you’re doing as a designer/publisher.
That’s a very complex question that depends on many socioeconomic factors. But the answer is probably porn.
Yeah, I have no idea what the rated wattage for this is. Manual / manufacturer specs are useless. Just says like 740 KWh/yr and “115V/10A”.
I’ve been watching it for the last ~3 hours. Fridge was already cold, but I did open the door for a minute or two so the compressor would kick in.
When the compressor’s running, the draw is about 150W average (swings between 120W and about 160). I can hear it running. Haven’t caught the startup wattage, but the UPS had no issues with it (would have beeped otherwise). I’m not sure if it runs harder or just longer if it needs to cool a warm fridge down (not an expert here lol).
A bit later, the compressor is not running (no hum even with my ear to it). UPS says 400W now, almost on the dot ( +/- 3 watts or so). I’m assuming this is some kind of defrost/de-ice cycle and there’s a heater running or something.
After about 15 minutes, it dropped back down to almost nothing until the compressor kicked on again.
So I guess it really is that energy-efficient. lol. I guess the only remaining question is if there’s anything to watch out for if I want to keep running it on a UPS.
