It’s bullshit. It’s inauthentic. It can be useful for chewing through data, but even then the output can’t be trusted. The only people I’ve met who are absolutely thrilled by it are my bosses, who are two of the most frustrating, stupid, pig-headed, petty people I’ve ever met. I wish it would go away. I’m quitting my job next week, taking a big paycut and barely being able to pay the bills, specifically because those two people are unbearable. They also insist that I use AI as much as possible.

Nah cos you’re right, they’re shit - but if we’re talking about a future where these models are unfortunately used by uncreative dorks enough that they harvest enough music to become good, it’ll be a sad day.

It’s just deeply inauthentic. I’d feel tricked if I listened to a song that I enjoyed and found out it was actually a meaningless machine printout.

I don’t think they meant that sentence as a criticism if you’re reading it that way – if you take it with the second part of that sentence, I think they meant “out of all the places you could have run to, luckily you ran to the bathroom which provides some convenient excuses for tomorrow”.

Heya man, thanks for sharing. I hope you’re doing okay. That sounds tough, and it’s a hard realisation that love isn’t always enough on its own - relationships take work outside of love, and that has certainly felt like a disheartening realisation for me. It feels the world is a little less magic now, but that’s okay - there are better things coming for us both, that we will be better equipped to handle correctly with what we’ve learned from this.
