I deleted my Reddit account and have not gone back. That said, I’m not particularly fond of Lemmy either. I’ve found… maybe? two communities here of interest that may have migrated from Reddit and they aren’t even active; and even as a socialist, the politics are tiresome and pervasive.

Aside from fascists getting the smacking around that they deserve, the one thing that’s nice is that there are far fewer cringey “yay lemmy is the best isn’t it guys” circlejerk posts now than there were back then. I don’t spend nearly as much time on here as I did on Reddit, so that’s a plus.

I’m honestly shocked at how soon the sapient insects displaced humanity and subjugated what remained. Here’s a hint: the second digit in the year I visited is still a zero

Nah, I see cop as an option. More likely than astronaut, actually.

But most of all, I see him becoming a “professional YouTuber” of the “rant from the cab of a pickup truck wearing a baseball cap and wearing oakleys” genre, before going out and attempting to kidnap a politician at gunpoint. It’s one of those nominative determinism things, for sure.

I knew someone who did that to me in high school. I hated him, for many reasons, mind, but that was one. I hated him enough to be almost glad his wife died. Not that I am, and nothing against her, just… fuck him.

I’ve been called Bert by one guy, and sometimes I wonder if I should have run with that. Another guy would call me Rootbeer. I was totally fine with that, as you can see.

It’s probably not even difficult in Poland either

When I was working at a car dealership twenty years ago, I knew a salesman with that name. Before he sold cars, he was a relatively wealthy lawyer who got busted and disbarred for embezzlement or something to that effect, I never knew or cared enough about the details.

Not as bad, but still not great, my graduate advisor’s name was John Johnson. It still is but I’ve been done with all that for eight years.

Glad to know I joined the right instance

I used to go through so many pairs of headphones because the wires would inevitably get caught on things and pull; at the gym, it was particularly bothersome. I have a pair of Audio Technicas with a wire that can be removed (and, incidentally, a Bluetooth option but the lag is awful) but that’s more for stationary use. Otherwise, wireless has been a miracle for me.
