Obsidian also operates a paid cloud storage and public hosting service. Releasing the client for free is a way to gain good publicity and hook new customers, but making it open-source (or even nonfree source-available) would make adapting it to a different storage service trivial, which would hurt Obsidian’s business.
If you want a similar markdown editor, Obsidian does much the same, but with a much nicer single-panel UI. The client is free (as in no-cost), but closed-source.
Microsoft made NTFS, but not even Windows uses it properly. For example, the : character is perfectly valid in NTFS file names, but not in Windows. If you mount an NTFS volume in Linux without specifying the windows_names option, you can very easily make it unusable in Windows. It’s a sick joke, but nobody’s laughing.
KeePassXC, or any kind of KeePass-compatible client. It uses strong encryption to store passwords, passkeys, and arbitrary data. Also does TOTP. Not using a password manager in current year is stupid.
QOwnNotes - a note-taking app that uses plain markdown files. None of that stupid metadata-inside-markdown-inside-database bullshit.
It wins by default but only because I never liked the Twitter/Mastodon/Bluesky-like infinitely scrolling threads and only use Discord to follow some artists.

I didn’t kill him. Not yet. He’s a bully, and where I come from, bullies take desperate young girls like your daughter and force them into prostitution. And when they finally get knocked up, they peddle them to johns who get off on that. After they have the kid, they push them right back out on the streets even before they have a chance to heal. And those kids, they use them, too. Some people deserve to be punished.
It takes very little to sue a small project out of existence. It’s a risk they can’t take.
The Middle East has been cooking for so long, it’s impossible to point at a faction that is the “Good Guys”. But right now, one faction is hell-bent on exterminating another nation’s people, both military and civilian, so it should be pretty fucking obvious who the worst “Bad Guys” are. There are no good guys, only victims.

For my work computer, I screw them in tight, both on the monitor and the DP/VGA adapter.
For stationary devices (like overhead projectors) and extension cords, I screw them in, but not very tight.
For classroom computers, I only screw them in on the monitor and leave them unscrewed on the computer. Students can’t keep their legs calm and often snag the cables. I prefer to let the connectors harmlessly disconnect instead of damaging the graphics card or motherboard.

I have an Xbox One controller. It worked well out of the box on my previous machine, but the current one somehow maps the buttons incorrectly when I connect with bluetooth. Installing the hid-xpadneo kernel module (xpadneo-dkms on the AUR), which is a driver specifically for Xbox controllers, fixed it completely.
It works flawlessly with everything I’ve tried, including emulators. The hardware is also extremely durable. It’s survived several drops over five years (bought it for Sekiro’s launch) and being mangled by a dog. The only disadvantage is the stupid fucking flimsy micro-USB port, but the newest Series models have USB-C. If you can, get a rechargeable battery pack and a charging dock.
If you care about repairability, it’s not the worst, but not particularly good either. Parts of the shell are held by plastic tabs that are easy to damage, the internals are all located on one PCB, and the wires to the haptic motors are soldered on.
I never watch TV anymore, but commercials still find a way to get at me. If I want to watch an older series, I have to consciously avoid certain regional releases because they might have scenes removed to cram in an extra five minutes of ads. The fade-outs and immediate recaps that would’ve surrounded the commercial blocks are also annoying.
If you can’t find the motivation to start doing a lengthy task (like cleaning the house, gardening, or working on a project), force yourself to do it only for 30 minutes. It’s not an unreasonably long time. By the end, you’ll either have gained enough momentum to keep going and finish it, or if not, you’ve still made 30 minutes of progress.
