Urban busses will be slower than driving in most situations since they have to stop every few blocks. That’s not really unique to the US. The exceptions are where there are BRT routes which can avoid commuter traffic, and this is becoming more common in the US but still lags behind the best European systems.

If you are going to spend money on a gun, at least also spend money on steel doors and real locks for your bedrooms. If someone breaks in and actually means you harm, having a defensible keep is far and away the most important aspect of home security.
But 99.9999% of the time, anyone who breaks into your house just wants your shit and not confrontation. Which is why insurance is more important than any gun.
Abortion is not a moral hazard at all. Most people who might exist don’t. The whole “everyone agrees abortion is awful…” shit is obnoxious. I legitimately do not care. I am far more concerned about the lives of actual children. Once we seriously tackle that issue, we can move upstream, and this should be viewed as both incentive and a purity test for those who pretend to care about the “unborn.”
You literally just use a sponge and some bleach spray and like a minute of your time. If you replenish it daily your normal water chlorine should keep most of the bad shit at bay.
The weight gain shit is really the big sign shit is going down hill. I’ve been making a series of changes since about age 35, and each time the new diet or exercise routine works for like a year or two and then the weight slowly creeps back up. At this point I literally ride a bike 200 miles per week and I will still gain weight slowly if I eat breakfast. It makes no sense.

The part a lot of people miss in these threads is that European commutes are often also an hour on public transit, but that one hour radius is wider and there is actual useful last mile service in the suburbs. That’s the big thing the US frequently lacks - the development patterns mean there’s no way to run frequent busses that don’t just get stuck in traffic. So in the US that one hour transit commute can easily turn into 90 minutes or more if you don’t make connections, whereas in European cities it’s much easier to plan around.
