Had like 8 of us (old fucks) playing Descent in a 8x10 living room. 1 desk, the rest of us have 25 pound CRT monitors in our laps, extension cords everywhere, keyboards balanced on top… good times :-)

Everything everyone else said + cuckold porn… that stuff that’s like ordinary boring porn with a description about how cool it is that you’re getting turned on by looking at someone’s imaginary wife.

I’ve only recently become aware of the issue and that’s the way it feels.

But in the absence of a definitive test I think folks are concerned that they will be stuck with a CPU that continues to degrade prematurely. That seems like a valid concern.

I’m not mad at it :-) It was written for people who were familiar with the situation and posted in a subject matter specific forum.

24 hours later I feel like a bit of an ass. I thought about how many times I’ve picked up a technical article and wished for a bit less background… it’s kind of nice that we don’t have to talk about the whole history of OSS before getting to the news/subject.

Worst experience. Fairly new at a dotcom and moving from the satellite office to the big-time (same building as these loosers who were trying to do DVDs by mail, LOL ;-) and getting the shown around and introduced to various department heads.

Met the VP of IT and Sr. Systems admin, joked that it looked like they lived there… found out they had been battling a nasty virus all weekend that had infected most of our desktops and was evading our standard AV package, it was taking several runs of a special cleaner or just a wipe/reinstall.

Got introduced to lots of other folks, learned many more things, almost entirely forgot about the virus. A few hours later I’m waiting for my boss to finish a “quick” meeting I wasn’t invited to and getting bored. But I want to seem like a responsible employee (and I was caught up with /. from earlier in the day) so I decided to log in and check my email.

And the inbox boings start. Don’t even have a functioning desktop yet and I can literally hear the virus spreading across the office. I’d manage to pick an old desktop in the IT area that hadn’t been cleaned yet. Fortunately a lot of computers were still off from the cleanup effort, so my fuckup was limited to a 6-7 systems, but that was still hours of additional work for the small IT team after they had already given up their weekend.

It’s definitely not the worst virus I’ve ever had to deal with with. But it was definitely the most visible/shameful virus related fuckup I’ve ever been responsible for.

On second thought it’s about the same size as the one I’ve got at 5.48” probably not enough.

Thought about using a Bluetooth controller with your tablet?

I haven’t tried it myself but the Ambernic RG556 looks like a chonk and has an OLED.

I pointed out that you could stab someone in the eye with a pencil making a basic tool of learning into a wildly inappropriate object. It was really rough doing all my work in crayon ;-)

No idea about OCLP unfortunately. But I got a battery for my mid 2015 macbook off Amazon. Changing it isn’t hard but you’ll need a funky 5 lobed screwdriver. The 2015 and I assume onward memory is soldered to the board, so you’re probably stuck, although an independent repair shop could probably swap boards or something. The keyboard is integrated into the top plate according to apple, it was over $200 for the part last time I checked on eBay.

And don’t even get me started on the SSD :-( They are kind of a pain in the dick… but so sexy inside.

One of my friends mentioned he was downloading pre-patched MacOSs from the internet archive, so that might be worth a look.
