Ok, this is up there with “lets attack Greenland”
Its freely availible with a permissive license, but I dont think that that claim has been verified yet.
One of those rare lucid moments by the stock market? Is this the market correction that everyone knew was coming, or is some famous techbro going to technobabble some more about AI overlords and they return to their fantasy values?
Well, Matrix is all of that already, it uses its own protocol also called matrix, but its properly federated(unlike bluesky) and its open source. It also has a big userbase. The Matrix protocol is seen as a honorary member of the Fediverse. I think using activitypub may be a bad fit for real time messaging, so them using their own protocol makes sense. There are also XMPP server and clients, who do similar things to matrix, also federated and open source, however they are more like Whatsapp/Telegram etc.
Sounds very interesting. Im not sure how open it will actually be, if they just mean its using RISC-V’s open design and its just lost in translation or if they are actually trying to make an open hardware ecosystem.
edit: I read a bit more, it seems to be a apache-like licensed software only processor that one needs to implement first, so basically something inbetween pre RISC-V and an actual chip. Still cool, but I was hoping it was a finished chip.
Still dont trust them after that failed crypto handheld project.
edit: Wow according to their website they are still developing it! Yeah have fun trying to commodify gaming, just leave the rest of us alone.
I have to say, I love your crazy AI images. They are really unique and crazy, and you wouldnt get something like this using normal methods of picture creation.
But why not about mastodon? We are on the Fediverse here! And you really have posted a lot of articles that are basically just advertisements for bluesky.
I dont care about centralised social media bluesky, why is every second post in lemmy about bluesky!?
the paper is no longer online, I cant access it.
Heh. Lunatic. Good alternative name!
I suppose. But I think, minetest as a project was strengthend by its proximity to minecraft. The big reason you pick up luanti is that its like minecraft, but free and with more modding freedom. I dont think this is bad thing to be reflected in a name. But good luck to them, maybe they can pull the name change off without hurting their public recognition too much.
Im always sceptical of name changes, because you trade a somewhat widespread known project name in for …nothing.
Conversations, an XMPP chat app, does exactly this.
I love this AI insanity, was the title the prompt?
Cool project! Theres a p2p chat protocol called tox, maybe you’d like to implement it in WASM etc. instead of making a competing standard? That would really help establishing p2p messaging, and you’d get a userbase included!
its a proprietary license btw, just free to use for non commercial uses. Earlier SD versions were actual open source.
Isnt that just… stealing? I mean, if that works, then im opening a fast food chain with a t&c you have to sign that legally allows me to take all your posessions…
I think thats only if you let them host it, selfhosted is unlimited
