This is a bit heavy handed I think. This also forbids AI assisted code review and lots of other things. Perhaps they should have defined it a bit more focussed on getting rid of vibecoded spam instead of forcing a specific developing format for their whole platform.

I mean, you can always try Choicer Voicer over Jitsi/Stoat/Discord and then try to patch its audio using pipewire into the microphone capture in Choicer Voicer. Might not work though, I havent tried it.

To add to what the other commenters are saying, I also sometimes look at whos responsible for the software. Is it a repo from a big company? Is it a gnu project? Is it just from somebody with a username consisting entirely of numbers? Is it hosted on codeberg or forgejo or some other friendlier server? That stuff also says alot, even if there are few recent commits, if its from reputable people you may still get well maintained software.

This isnt cosmetic, this is genius! It satisfies lawmakers who want to make this pass to “save the children” and have no idea of the consequences, and it satisfies the lawmakers with braincells since makes the law inapplicable to secure communications.

I hope this does pass so they finally stop trying to push it through. But since they did pass the voluntary one but are still trying to pass the non-voluntary one, I think they will just try to spam chat control laws until their dystopic aim is achieved.

A thats cool. I used it for a while as a skype(hah!) alternative, but call quality is very low and it has no noise cancelling. Chat works though.

Jami is nice in theory, but it was very buggy for me when I tried it and Jami calls had no noise cancelling at all. Other than that, it does work.

I cant find the “keet” git repo, I think its proprietary. So thats a no go for privacy.
