  • Sleep, wait until the end. Just keep mostly going as usual, I won’t care about anything afterwards.

Only difference, I’d donate all my money. Perhaps, I’d try to get one of those smaller loans some banks offer instantly (without giving a reason) and donate that too. Not sure if mine does that as well.

But perhaps if I wasn’t a coward and nobody knew I was going to die anyway, I’d attempt to commit suicide for statistical reasons.

Makes me think about time travel again, because in this case the event could be caused by the time travel. I mean, the traveller goes back in time to cause an event that already happened. Perhaps that’s the only reason why I was going to die.
    Could it work this way?
Oh, wait, that’s how it was in Interstellar, no? If you travel to the past you can only do things that cause you to travel to the past and do the exact same things.
    Huh…

    I am getting off-topic.

  • Sort of, but in a bad way.

Anyway, this year we even omitted that tree, so I didn’t have to bother with that.

Specifically today? It’s 2AM, not much went on, just doing my things, thankfully nothing related to Christmas.
I sent my cash too late so I ran out of Mullvad time. I paid for a week of IVPN and the setup didn’t fair too well.
“Bypass VPN for local networks” in their app on Android doesn’t work, so I lost ability to use KDE Connect for now.
On laptop I just used plain WG with NetworkManager on Plasma. It seems to not accept anything but 0.0.0.0/0 in AllowedIPs which is something I’ve been screwing around with for a while until I found someone else from a year ago with the same issue. I even tried 0.0.0.0/1, 128.0.0.0/1 rather than the larger calculated list, bug to no avail. It just doesn’t work.
I guess I’ll just use OpenVPN on Android. The second doesn’t seem to matter much.

I am also trying to figure out whether what I’ve found is infinite unthrottled (almost) free mobile data glitch with T-Mobile, or some kind of sorcery I missed in their documentation.

  • Not the gift itself, but the response.

First of all, even before Christmas I said I’d prefer NO GIFTS at all. Regardless, my dad got me some inkjet HP printer. I thanked him for it, but asked him that we’d return it. I tried to be respectful, but regardless, he got mad at me and didn’t talk with me for like 2 days.

Later he sent me the money for it and asked me to buy something for it and show him what it was. I do not know why I couldn’t just keep it as extra money, but oh well, it had to be spent on something.
I got a refurbished ThinkPad for that. Pretty good device, by far beating value of HP inkjet. I even got it with a 2 year warranty (without extended) like with a new device, while only 1 year is required.

  • Ok, you ran to the bathroom out of all places, you can use that now. You could say you felt sick, and then you rather went home because you felt too bad (maybe stomachache), you just forgot to notify someone.
Since you work with food, this could be (hopefully) taken even better. Although… I am starting to feel like hygiene is an illusion, but that may just be with frozen pastry (and region-dependent) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, that may work as an explanation for the boss, probably not coworkers. If you’re not friends, perhaps you could try ignoring them outside of work-related discussions.

But I am probably the worst person to take advice from.

  • I always hate Christmas, so kind of all of them. My mom is a hoarder so it always starts with finding just enough space for that stupid tree. I’d just prefer to be alone in silence.

Maybe when I was a kid and got a new phone. I kind of can’t act happy spontaneously, so I just had this “looking happy and surprised” shit prepared. And it worked, rather too well. My dad insisted on recording me and then putting it on Facebook, and got mad at me because I disagreed with that. I think I just had to put up with it anyway.

2023 - He bought me some HP inkjet printer. I thanked him and explained I don’t need it, so that we could return it. Again, his usual speech about how useless he is, that he shouldn’t have been born, that he always wanted a happy family and never got that, “Other men beat their wives and kids and they still love them. I don’t, perhaps that’s where I made a mistake.” and he can’t be talked to at least until the next day.
Same goes with any disagreement, even stuff like when I don’t want to watch a movie with him.
My mom’s words of encouragement are that I am a heartless egoist like my father, that I should never get married, and how much I owe them because they gave me the gift of life. Former is likely true, I am a piece of shit indeed, but I didn’t decide to be born, they did that.

2022 - Just disappointing because I had better expectations.
It was Christmas Eve night already. I said I’ll take the trash out, but also secretly took my phone, OTG cable, USB extension cord, RTL-SDR and the extendable dipole antenna. I expected OK-ish pass of NOAA-15 and a great high elevation pass of Meteor M2. I thought I could have some fun on Christmas maybe.
Well, I got the APT and DSB from NOAA-15, but I couldn’t detect any signal from the Meteor. I’ve still seen what I think were Orbcomm sats, so it wasn’t fault in my setup.
Well, well, well. My luck - Meteor M2 has died earlier that day.
    Bruh… What are the odds…

  • I log all my donations so I have a list to copy-paste. Some of them I cannot donate to anymore (e.g.: Linux Mint) because they use PayPal which shadow-banned me. Perhaps because I kept using virtual single-use cards, and using like 50 different cards may look suspicious. But anyway, fuck PayPal.

So, the list with amounts removed (they’re too low):
    Linux Mint
    TeamSeas
    Manjaro
    OpenCollective tips
    Tor Project
    Internet Archive (archive.org)
    The Document Foundation (LibreOffice)
    Arch Linux
    KDE
    Mozilla
    F-Droid
    Termux
    db0 Lemmy instance (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
Arne Schwabe (dev of Android OVPN client)
Deluan Quintao (dev of Navidrome server)
    Arty Bishop (dev of Look4Sat)
    sc07 (Fediverse Canvas creator)
    IPcko
Markus Fisch (dev of Binary Eye)
    VideoLAN
    ochranma.sk
    Meshtastic
    Kiwix
    Municia pre Ukrajinu
    FFmpeg
    IzzyOnDroid
    Lemmy

That is just a full list of every place I ever donated to. I couldn’t afford for them to be recurring.

Some of them you probably won’t know as they’re only relevant in my country (Slovakia). I’ll try to quickly describe them, I have a long day tomorrow and only 5 hours left to sleep (and it’s shortening).
IPcko - Mostly a suicide helpline, but they do a lot more too. Constantly underfunded and this year the government cut their budget even more. They provide help over phone, chat and e-mail, but also have teams that can go meet the person, physical offices (“Káčko”) across the country where you can speak to a therapist if you’re doing too bad (for free) and some more stuff like clubs where people can meet and (try to) have fun… I am too tired to name all, sorry.
ochranma.sk - Part of INHOPE network. Up until recently we had no way to report CSAM (this was started in 2022), and in 2018 and 2019 we had the second (to Netherlands) highest count of known occurrences of CSAM sharing, even surpassing USA and Russia. Mind you, we have a population of 5.5 million…
Municia pre Ukrajinu - “If not the government, then us” - Money to fund purchase of ammunition for Ukraine in cooperation with Czech Republic (our government refused to help Ukraine, thus the slogan)

Edit: That info is from mind mind, I need sleep. May not be accurate.
