I wish I had a good answer for this as to why there has been a history of questionable names to most of the things we’ve familiarized ourselves with.

Because sometimes I do question the names of services, apps, tools and other things about who the sorry sap had the audacity to name something as it is. Google, Amazon, Uber and it just goes on and even extends to other industries.

I think some of the ones that always make me stop the most are all of the animal-related names to Linux distros.

We are watching them just swing at air at this point.

We figured out all along that Firefox just wants to be like Chrome and Edge in it’s own way.

But as for marketshare, Firefox barely even got a sniff, if we’re all honest.

Yeah that’s really no contest anymore.

Knowing the people who I ideally want to date or would have a better chance of dating, will forever be out of my reach because of missed opportunities in the past. For example, there’s a couple of friends I know I would’ve loved to date. One of them I could’ve had but nobody said anything to eachother and it had been 14 years ago when that chance came and went. We just mesh well together and can go the distance when it comes to conversing and getting along. But, I’m forever friend-zoned because nobody said anything when emotions were high back then.

And another thing is accepting the fact that you aren’t as compatible with some of your friends when you thought you were. The painful part is realizing this after so long. I had a massive friend exodus last year. I’ve lost friends whom I’ve been with for 15 years, 10 years, 5 years and 3 years in that order. And it was simply because at somepoint, we just ignored the part where we weren’t as heavily compatible as we once were. And it showed the more times we were at odds with eachother. Hell, I lost another friend this year who I had hit it off well for 3 going 4 years and it’s the same example.

It’s a matter of keeping the plants contained. I have witnessed cut down bushes and trees multiply than how they originally were before they were cut down. Try managing that in a home or somewhere smaller.

I’m going to go out and say you are partaking this in a bad faith and dishonest manner. You can’t properly respond to people’s critique of your post.

Who isn’t to say that the forks will just simply branch off and be self-sustainable? See, that’s the beauty of open source and the licenses of which these things operate under. It would suck if it was as close-sourced as Windows is because if all of the forks functioned off of the licenses something as Windows operates under, we wouldn’t have choice.

Yeah it’s posts like these that do not offer engagement and we don’t really need more of them. This isn’t reddit, here, where over there people only write the headline and nothing in the body except two lines, like this one. It’s annoying.

Ever heard of Shadowrun? The TTRPG? That’s what things are gearing towards, just take away the interesting and cool aspects from Shadowrun and you basically have reality right now as we know it.

On paper, Lemmy does look like there’s a lot. In practice, there’s not really a lot that reflects the total number of registrations.

Reddit, even with its bots and whatever, still has a large amount of active users compared to Lemmy.
