Heh. Ever heard of the Slashdot effect?

“The net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.”
Users will search for new places. The fact that we are here is proof.
Build it, and they will come.

It’s just another Mastodon-compatible server where you can log in.
Mastodon, like Lemmy, is a federated network, meaning the more servers there are, the better things are for everyone. Huge servers with millions of users are harder to maintain, and moderation does not scale. There’s more noise, abuse is harder to spot, and harassment is harder to punish. Having many small servers is a better approach.
On the other hand, new servers might be unstable: the admin needs to both maintain the server and moderate the community, and there have been cases of admins doing crappy jobs at either. Servers are born and die regularly on Mastodon; you might want to see how things go before opening an account there.

I don’t mind, but I can’t answer either 😅
Let’s say it’s run by a Latin American oligarch family.

The year is 2020.
Covid was in full force, and we were suddenly assigned impossible tasks in very little time. Not to mention we hadn’t been given a raise in more than 2 years, not because the company finances were bad, but because the owner was a greedy bastard.
Then one person decided to quit. And another. And another.
What did the owner do? Raise salaries to keep the personnel? No, he let them leave and loaded all the work onto us.
I decided I wouldn’t be the one crushed by that load, so I was the next to leave. Bye bye.
This is why LLMs should not be used as AI agents. They suck at following simple instructions AND stopping there.
What we need is dedicated translators that turn your instructions into executable code - an AI scripting language, if you will - and use limited language models to process text based on those instructions.
By mixing “code” (instructions) and “data” (text to read / analyze) into these models’ training, prompt injection was just waiting to happen.
OpenAI and friends are just repeating Microsoft’s mistakes. Remember MS Word viruses? Exactly the same thing.
