    Tap for spoiler

Norway has a functioning judicial system and the people in power are upheld to the same standards as everybody else, fucking obvious to literally everyone.

Because the USA is ruled by a mixture of Evangelical Christianity and radical Zionism both of which hold the brutalization of children to be some of their core tenets.

Because 99% of US media / Social Media is owned by the same Trump supporting billionaires and they either don’t air anything about it or extremely sanitized coverage.

And with everything else going on what does get through gets buried under the Gastapo murdering people with no consequences, continued attacks on Trans/gay/women/minorities, the whole “let’s invade whatever country made twumpy dumpy mad this week” and whatever other fucking insanity seems to being dumped on the planet earth this week those of us who care don’t really get heard by anyone else.

It also doesn’t help we have approx. 40% of our population that don’t care that their dear leader is a child rapist, as long as minorities and gay people get murdered. And that 40% has been stocking up on guns just waiting to be able to murder their neighbors.

    Fuck. I’m tired boss

I think the actual question is “why does the US not do shit about this when other countries do”.

It doesn’t help that the Norway crown prince (EDIT: not the crown prince as I thought; sorry !) has a rape trial going on at the moment (the courts are apparently deliberating now after all testimony if my (much-work-in-progress) Norwegian is to be believed)

For the sake of clarity, the guy on trial is not the Norwegian crown prince, and he does not have any claim to the Norwegian crown in any way. He is the son of the wife of the Norwegian crownprince, but she had him in her first marriage, before marrying the Norwegian crown prince after her divorce.

I thought “crown prince” meant the next in line? If so, then that’s a tiny bit misleading, the guy on rape trial is just a prince. AFAIK he’s like the 4th in line for the throne, or something like that

The humanist philosopher Arne Ness said it best: “there is no freedom without responsibility, in fact the two are intrinsically the same”.

Americans can learn a lot from this.

Because Norway is not a dumpster juice of all of the DNA of the greediest, most selfish, self centered naked apes of the entire planet. Being a country made of migrants, the US has attracted the worst of all humanity. Operation paper clip and Shiro Ishi come to mind, just to name a few. Feelsbadman for all good people stuck there with the savages.

      Not sure how this:

Being a country made of migrants

      Would lead to this:

the US has attracted the worst of all humanity

…especially given that most countries are ‘made of migrants’.

Because everyone implicated here isn’t just still in power, they’ve been in power for a long time.

Lest we forget that the Biden administration had these files as well. Why do you think they didn’t pursue them?

It’s pretty simple - Royals have influence, but no real power. In the USA, it’s the head of state who is mentioned thousands of times. Over time, the legislative branches have allowed power to accrue with the executive branch. Look where you are now.

Because the files have been systematically scrubbed and weaponised to deflect and harm non-allegiant countries.

Look at what mango said about norway and the peace prize and recently about the UK.
