I read people say online that Americans are loud. What does this mean, exactly? Is it literal volume or is it our personality/presentation? Something else?
I may be moving to Australia because of my wife’s job, and I want to better understand this. I want to assimilate and I don’t want to be annoying. I’m personally pretty low key and listen more than speak, but this is my perception of myself.

Anglo Saxons are loud and have main character syndrome, then? 😅 I have a feeling Aussies don’t, and most Americans I’ve met have actually been sort of ashamed of saying they’re from the States and overall sweet, lol, so the world might be healing.
Those were just random examples that came to mind. I’m sure there are places where people have an impression of Chinese people based on tourists, etc.
Americans just stand out because you see them everywhere, because they have a huge amount of wealth.
The point I was trying to make is that it’s tourists in general who might tend to be more annoying.
