Hmm, are you sure on the dates? The March 12th 1989 is a Sunday strip without the transmogrifier, and the 3rd of December is about mailing Santa.
… BUT… The cardboard box the beanie comes in first shows on March 11 (with the action concluding on the 18th talking about all the fun they’ll have with this great cardboard box.
(Admittedly, looking at it now, the box does seem a bit too small for them to fit in but…)
