Aight I got one, I believe the elderly are less valid than the young and should have a lot of their privileges taken away. No voting once you hit retirement, no more driving, they should be entirely at the mercy of public infrastructure and if it’s not good enough for them then too bad. They had their entire life to build a better future and look where we are now. The senior vote has practically enabled fascism and they deserve more hatred for the way they think and behave. Especially since they are dependent on the young to bring in enough taxes to pay for their pension.
Anyways, let’s see who this upsets most 😅

      Yourself, in about 50 years.

This is just false. The 50-64 year old vote was far more pro Trump than the 65+ cohort. Older age does not mean more pro trump overall.

There’s honestly too much else going on with your arguments for me to sit here and pick it apart, but it essentially boils down to (1) it is not every old person’s fault that things are the way they are (spoiler: the rich and powerful are to blame) and (2) the stripping of rights you describe would disproportionately impact marginalized or poor groups of people. I highly recommend this podcast episode. Pretty much everything else I would say is in it:

Cheers for linking resources, I really appreciate when people take the time to do that. I don’t inherently disagree with you but also my comment is very incomplete. I wanted to share my controversial opinion, not defend it dammit! Hahah

I bet your opinion will change when you are old and despite your best efforts (if you actually do that) it’s even worse than it is now.

By your logic everyone who was of voting age in November 2024 is responsible for fascists taking over the US, despite hundreds of millions of people trying to stop it.

I’m not upset by your opinion, but I do think it’s silly and myopic. You can’t just lump everyone into one category based on age and expect it to make logical sense.

I agree about the age thing. If minors can’t vote then old people past a certain age shouldn’t be allowed to either unless they can pass some cognitive tests. Same with driver’s license.

That’s mainly my position, that if there is a minimum age, then there should also be a maximum age. I think retirement is a good benchmark for that cap.

How dare you! Actually, not terrible ideas, but I would pin it to an age, not whether you have retired or not. Maybe 70 currently? As we live longer and people are healthier longer it may need to go up. Something to think about: the wealthier you are the less this affects you. You could pay to have someone else drive you anywhere at anytime, and, although it’s probably not legal, if you were rich and could afford it, you could probably find at least one person who would change their vote for you for some $$.
