      Exactly.

      I was an immigrant myself at one point (not in the US, but elsewhere in Europe than were I was born) and immigrants are no inherently better than the locals, just less powerful and hence the nasty ones amongst them less likely to show their nastiness (as they’re more likely to have to suffer payback for it). This is painfully obvious if you’re in any way familiar with the politicial situation in their countries of origin - plently of cold calous selfish assholes there and plenty of them emigrate.

      I firmly believe that the US-style Identity Politics with the whole hypersimplified and hypergeneralized (and even discriminatory, though the practicioners of it think it’s “positive”) idea that “all immigrants are victims” was an invention of some Neoliberal Think Tank and in my experience of actually being involved in Politics in a couple of countries, it’s pretty much only that out of touch layer of middle class scions of the middle class who haven’t ever really had to fight just to stay afloat that believed such simplistic bollocks.
