For me, if I ask for an unpopular opinion and you say something about pineapple on pizza I’m going to assume you have no personality.
I’m not a fan of “bless you” after a sneeze.
May the sneeze gods grant you mercy.
When I’m alone with somebody and they say absolutely nothing after I sneeze, I have to process that for a moment and decide what kind of person they are. They are probably stoic & logical & they eschew bullshit meaningless traditions. I like it. But I’m a girl with a big heart and I still cannot bear to be silent after somebody sneezes, but I agree it’s meaningless & old-fashioned to say “bless you,” so
I learned Chinese a few years ago and they say “Yi bai sui” or “may you live 100 years” after somebody sneezes. So I say that in english after somebody sneezes. “May you live 100 years.” That way there’s no awkward silence showing that I’m cold and heartless, instead I’m a compassionate educated polyglot 😜
Yep I prefer saying ‘goes in tight’.
Took me a minute. Ah yes, German.
Teeheehee
Automotive racing is a sport.
But Rallycross is the only interesting one.
Like, is luge a sport but not automotive racing?
I feel like that’s a pretty common opinion, I’ve never heard of anyone railing against motorsports not being a sport.
Yeah, I’ve seen a lot more hot takes on the topic, but none of them seem to be here today.
These days, I hear the line “it’s just people driving in circles” from F1 fans dumping on NASCAR, more than anything else.
But like, any sport sounds boring when you just break it down like that. Baseball, basketball, either kind of football, they’re all about a bunch of dudes just moving a ball around.
The people who say that are being willfully ignorant. If it was just “driving in circles” F1 drivers would have more success when they go to NASCAR.
Anyone can become an addict, it is not a genetic trait. If you use any additive substance long enough you will being addicted, there is no if, its just a matter of when.
This includes alcohol and more people are addicted to alcohol then they want to admit.
Sure hope I am free to do what I want with my own body someday. Surely someone will believe in bodily autonomy eventually.
Not sure where you got that from? You are free to become addicted to anything you want.
My unpopular option is that addiction is not genetic, if you take an addictive substance long enough you will become addicted, no one is exempt from this.
I’m not sure about this when it comes to heroin. I’ve tried it and it was meh, but others try it feel like they have never before felt ok. And pot too I can’t find the high at all, it feels yucky but so many people love it and feel high on it, so in some ways there are “two kinds of people in the world” situations.
I do agree that anyone can become an addict if they try hard enough, though. Coffee for me, caffeine.
This is 100% true for heroin. If you pressed through and still did it enough times even if you thought it was meh, you would eventually become addicted, because that is how brain chemistry works. It is not the high people are chasing when they get addicted, its relief from the withdraws.
Papyrus is actually a well-fitting font for Avatar and also perfectly fine as a font.
So is Comic Sans for anything related to comics or comic-like things.
That poor guy at Microsoft who saw cartoon speech bubbles with Times New Roman and thought “I can make something friendlier than that”, and people still haven’t stopped spewing hate and joking about torturing him
Most of our heros in movies actually kind of suck. They are for the most part only able to solve the world through violence because by some magical or supernatural or just bad writing, in an absurd position to do so.
I blame this on why I have more people willing to literally kill or die for me in my life then willing to engage in uncomfortable dialogue or eat more fiber for me.
We’re all going to be fine.
Yeah, we all die eventually. No life, no problems.
When is going? Bc I am actively not fine.
I doubt it. We have a very large fossil record of extinct species. Nothing says we won’t end up as yet another.
There’s two ways to go extinct - by coming to a sudden stop or by gradually changing over time until you’re no longer recognisable as the same species.
A species gradually changing is evolution, extinction is where the species dies out, bit of a difference
Well, see, the “sudden stop” is really just sudden at the time scale that Earth operates on. But in all these extinctions, where multiple species got wiped out entirely, at the scale of the species themselves it’s a slow ass grind that takes multiple centuries.
It only took humanity 50 years to wipe an average of 70% off the panet’s biodiversity
We’ll make a fine message to future civilisations
Things aren’t actually all that bad. Seriously, in the grand scheme of things, yo, we doing OK. Antibiotics. Hot water. Sunscreen. Whiskey. Coffee. Shit, we’re frying things with the air now, man. As a species, we’re doing kinda OK. We could be doing better, but we’re learning. Some of us, anyway. There’s a lot to love out there in the world, and every day something beautiful can happen to you. Yes, even you, you crabby-ass bitch.
Most Mac ‘n’ cheese from scratch is poorly made and not good. You have to make a goddamned cream sauce base first. It’s not hard, it just takes giving a shit.
I agree with this sentiment. Life is actually a-okay. Mostly.
Quentin Tarantino is a pretty good director. Not great, not terrible, just pretty good.
People and groups generally are not inherently evil, and if you pay a little bit of attention, their actions are almost always logical to them (even if they are evil actions).
A lot of people might think they agree with that…but start naming people and groups and they will call you names pretty quickly.
“The Beatles are overrated”
Not only is it untrue, but even if you don’t like their music you’re an idiot if you can’t see their influence.
I see more influence from Jazz, and other genres of black origin, than anything the Beatles have come up with.
That’s because you refuse to see their influence.
It’s hard to see something that doesn’t exist. And I don’t do faith and beliefs.
“Doesn’t exist”
So I guess every artist who named them as a major influence was lying.
Every artist, all maybe two of them.
Does it hurt being that dumb or are you not smart enough to know how dumb you sound?
Snart enough to know more about music than you. In this argument, that’s all that really matters.
Still overrated. Right place, right time. If it wasn’t them, it could have just as easily been someone else.
Contrarianism doesn’t make up for a lack of personality. You not liking something doesn’t make it overrated.
The Beatles are overrated and liking them to the degree you do shows a lack of originality.
Because being a contrarian is so original in today’s world. If you were smart enough to know how dumb you sound you’d be embarrassed.
I’m not contrarian. I’ve never thought much of the Beatles. It wasn’t until they got their own whole band game (back when those were popular) that I realised Beatles were somehow enjoyed by more than just really old people.
Okay, but that’s down to your taste, which has nothing to do with if they’re overrated or not.
Yeah, I’m starting to think you don’t know what “overrated” means.
True. But a lot of people praising something more than merited does.
Idk if you put someone in a pilot seat that isn’t a pilot, it’s an extraordinary effort and newsworthy if they don’t crash the plane.
Even if they got given the plane, they are still great pilots. Every album is novel and there are so many.
I don’t think this person will admit that. They’ve convinced themselves that they know more about it than pretty much every artist that came after the Beatles.
If the beatles were fingerless or deaf, or had never heard music before, you might have a point.
You’re so mean
I think the dispute is over what defines overrated. I think they can be aptly called overated if you are looking at the technical aspects of the actual music they wrote.
But if we’re defining it by influence on a genre or era of music then it would be hard to make the same claim.
By no metric can the amount of classic albums they put out in a 5 year span be considered overrated.
Yes, but that is again another metric by which to judge. The amount of albums does not affect the technical complexity of the music. And I am by no means trying to claim that music needs to be technically advanced to be good, it’s just another way in which an individual could possibly be judging if something is or isn’t overated. The quality of the music itself is always going to be subjective, while the cultural impact of the music is not. So I can see both sides of the argument.

Green skittles should have never switched away from lime flavor.
Mine is that every “coffee” that has something more than sugar is a coffee-based beverage and not a coffee
My friend says - if you don’t like unsweetened baker’s chocolate you don’t like chocolate.
Similar, mine is every “coffee” that has something more than coffee and water is some kind od coffee-based beverage.
“You like cream and sugar, not coffee.” Just, I couldn’t stand to try and argue with the guy because it matter so very fucking little to me but enough for me to remember the inanity of the argument.
I like my sugar with coffee and cream, actually.
When people say this about a frou-frou latte, I just tell them I don’t actually care - I usually drink black decaf but if I’m paying 6USD for a coffee, I’m making them work for it.
I think C# is a perfectly adequate and fairly enjoyable programming language, even though I dislike Microsoft and their products.
C# may be ok, but fuck wpf.
It’s the best thing Microsoft has ever done.

“Unpolular” is relative to the target audience. I’ll relate to my own social circles here:
I actually like Nickelback.
Sure, they’re not exceptional, but mediocrity is hardly a sin (unless it’s AI slop; fuck AI slop). Sure, their music is made to be safe, commercial rock, but that just fills a neat, chill gap in my music taste where LoFi should be (but isn’t; never really vibed with it).
It’s not the extent of my music taste either. I like Drumstep, Deathcore and plenty more. I just also appreciate some “boring” rock occasionally.
Lol fair enough but I’d literally rather never listen to music again
Pluto is planet and not one, at same time.
A dawrf planet is still a planet. Free Pluto.
Ganymede and Titan are bigger than Mercury. Do you call them planets?
No, because they are moons. Planets are (roughly paraphrasing here) the dominant gravitational mass in their orbit.
So Neptune is the reason Pluto is no a planet.
Pluto is not a planet because it has not cleared it’s orbit. But the discussion started by comparing size.
What do they orbit?
Your mom.
Right. So that would make them moons, not planets.
Nah your mom is a star
I would
