“The data comes from neuroscientist Jared Cooney Horvath, who has spent years reviewing standardized testing results across age groups. “They’re the first generation in modern history to score lower on standardized academic tests than the one before it,” Horvath told the New York Post. The declines cut across attention, memory, literacy, numeracy, executive function, and general IQ. That’s not just one weak spot. That’s the whole darn dashboard blinking at once.”

At no fault of their own… also, doesn’t this imply their parents (i.e. previous generation) is dumb for allowing this to happen? Just saying.

Now, this is awkward. Horvath said many young people remain highly confident in their intelligence despite lower measured performance.

This is because the standards have been lowered and benchmarks changed. Its easier to pass tests and graduate high school now more than ever before. Colleges have been screaming about this for years. From the Republican view point, the system is working.

I’ve met their parents. They’re a different kind of dumb like their kids are a different kind of smart.

It was said about the Y by the X, and about the X by those who lived the war (the W)… It was also said by Plato about next generations as well…

Each time it was stupid and just a mark of the previous generaton being to dumb to understand the next one.

They could’ve written a less ableist headline but chose to jump the shark.

edit: so sorry pointing out ableism as a headline was an huge inconvenience to you “1 downvote”. it’s hard to be mindful, definitely for me as no exception, but at least maybe don’t make it a headline. super trashy all around.
