Amateurs. Back in my day we didn’t have videos at all, we just ate dirt, and had lead in the air and water.

Kids these days read books about romance and knights, and that sort of frivolous waste of time will corrupt the youth into idleness and vanity. They need to work harder in the field, milk the cows and feed the chickens. A book never yet grew a bushel of wheat.

Back in my day we watched shows made to sell toys. Some of them, for example TMNT, actually turned out pretty good, but a lot of them do not hold up at all.

I’m trying to think of the equivalent when I was a kid. Dial-up was a thing (some universities and companies and probably some rich folks had better, but the average person that even cared about getting online didn’t), but just getting images involved downloading multiple parts of the data from newsgroups and stitching it together.

My first thought was maybe watching home videos or AFHV for that media or something like MAD magazine, though neither really seems to fit.

We played text based adventures and liked it! Such enrichment. I crawled in the dumb waiter… The Count (1979)

people who worry about “kids these days” are invariably the mediocre kids of yesteryear.
