for me, i will not buy the product if the reviews have consistently 1-3 stars with the same thing describing whats wrong with it.
with locations like dentists, medical offices, i look at the negatives and then the positive and make my judgement, if they have consistent bad reviews i will not use those places. i tend to ignore 5 stars since they embellish or exaggerate alot. for schools, you have been a student long enough to give a proper review for, especially since recent times most schools are getting C- or lower reivews due to lack of opportunities, etc. i immediately ignore the ones that give political commentary to a school(almost always as calling it woke, or not christiany enough", why they dont like the school and will likely report them.
Again, I make my own judgment call. If something has tons of negative reviews, then I might read some just to get an idea what everyone’s upset about.
If it’s a common complaint about a specific thing, then I’ll decide whether that thing is a deal breaker for me, or not that important. If it’s just a bunch of random complaints, then I won’t trust any of them and make my own call.
But in general, I don’t really pay attention to reviews. I guess Steam reviews on games are pretty much the only ones I ever read, simply because they’re displayed prominently right at the top of every game’s store page. If a game is review bombed, I might read some recent reviews to see what the deal is. But I’ve definitely bought games that have tons of negative reviews, simply because people didn’t give reasonable explanations for their negative reviews.
Curious, if reviews are REALLY BAD, do you still ignore it or just be on the err side of things and not go there/buy that thing/use that service?
