Years ago I bought a canoe, the ropes had several of these knots. I have never been able to replicate them (granted I have not tried a lot either).

I think it’s a standard figure 8 but with one side pulled through into a slipknot.
Not sure if that has a specific knot name. Knowing sailors, it’s probably something that sounds like a drunken slur.
That was my first thought as well. Probably called a “slipped” or “slippery” figure-8.
