Any question being asked in good faith is worth answering. Something that might be obvious to you, night not be equally obvious to someone else, and vice versa.
Every person has missed something virtually everyone else knows. It’s totally normal, and providing venues for such questions to be answered goes long way towards building a cohesive view and good understanding of the matter.
It’s that there are no stupid questions. But the saying only applies to questions asked in good faith.

Haha, I thought so. However, communication happens on many layers and it’s highly individual which you see. So that might just be your perspective.
Like when someone asks a question which you think is really dumb. You’d be close to asking if the person asking is stupid for doing that. But maybe it’s just a different communication.
Or the person might be dumb. But still have questions, too! 😂
Lots of questions posted here are not genuine questions. Instead they are socio political comments trying to manufacture gotcha replies for controversy.
Those are not stupid questions, they’re rethorical questions. They are not what the community is for.
“No stupid questions” means that genuine good faith seek of knowledge or dispelling basic ignorance will not be shamed. Political rethorics will be shamed though. Thoroughly downvoted and mocked.
No question that comes from a genuine place of ignorance is stupid. Seeking knowledge, no matter how common or simple, should not be derided.

In addition to what’s been mentioned, that there isn’t a stupid question if it’s asked seeking an actual answer, the phrase is the title of the community, not a rule. So ask anything, if it’s truly something you don’t know or aren’t sure about. Sometimes the simplest and “common knowledge” questions can spawn some interesting details that isn’t all that commonly known.
Look, ignoring the bait title, I think it useful to talk about this.
This kind of community only works when people can freely ask almost anything without worrying about it being outright removed.
But when it comes down to it, part of what makes communities like this worth using is hindered by gatekeeping and the “yes there are” mentality.
Sure, it’s menat to be the kind of thing where you can ask weird shit and have a decent chance of getting a decent reply. That’s always going to come with bad faith questions, but it’s worth it
See, we can all scroll by the shit we think is genuinely stupid and/or bad faith. We aren’t required to respond. And we shouldn’t if we don’t have anything relevant to say.
